The Gyro Excitation Card (GEC) function is to excite and control a single or dual Dynamically Tuned Gyroscope(s) (DTG); to derive instantaneous inertial rate information and report either two or four rate outputs to a host system via a high speed serial link. To realize the above capability the GEC implements two motor drives, pick-off excitation, torquer excitation, pick-off sense and torquer sense circuitry. The design consists of analogue circuitry and a Computation Logic Unit (CLU) comprising an FPGA and a 32 Bit CPU.
